Who goes first in Goblins, Inc.?

English CGE rules, October 2012 copyright

In the standard four-player game, whoever opened the box is the first round's starting player. That player and the opponent opposite them plan first.

Rule details

During the four-player build, two players plan while their partners wait to build, then the roles switch. There is not a single player taking the whole opening turn alone.

The box-opening instruction applies to the first round. Later rounds use the lowest score.

Official tie-break or fallback

In the three-player variant, the lower-scoring member of the two-person team starts alongside the solo player; roll a die if those teammates are tied. The die also breaks lowest-score ties when selecting a starter for later rounds.
