Whoever most recently fed an animal chooses the first animal token. All players then move their matching token simultaneously.
Rule details
The player who chooses the token passes clockwise from round to round.
When playing solo, you choose the animal token each round.
The youngest-player instruction in the children's variant concerns end-of-game scoring, not who starts the game.
Our interpretation
The starting-player criterion selects the first token chooser; it does not give that player a separate placement turn.
If there’s a tie
The cited starting-player instruction does not specify a tie-break. We don’t infer one.
