For the introductory game, choose randomly or let the most experienced player start. Standard setup instead names the last player to perform an alchemical transmutation, with random selection as an alternative.
Rule details
The introductory starter receives the Duval Laboratory board. Standard setup skips that introductory assignment.
The base solo setup puts the human player first. An optional difficulty increase instead makes Botmegistus start, without a compensating Ethereal die.

If there’s a tie
